Boston at Night

City skylines are beautiful structures when illuminated at night. I’ve seen a few such as Chicago, London, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, and Philadelphia. The most recent feast for my eyes was Boston. I’ve already written about some of its history, and the old city is an amazingly vibrant part of what makes Boston worth a visit. The past, however, melds seamlessly with the modern to create a unique cityscape. At night, Boston gets its personality. Even from within the city’s heart, looking around provides colorful immersion underneath monoliths harkening to the days of yore. Next time you’re in a city, or if it’s your permanent residence, look up and around. Take in the engineering and architectural marvels, and think about how the city is a beacon in what is otherwise a dark and quiet world. I’m an individual who loves the openness of the country, but I can appreciate how cities rise up out of a sea of black.
